Showers of Blessings
And I will make them and the places all around my hill a blessing, and I will send down the showers in their season; they shall be showers of blessing. (Ezekiel 34:26)
I don’t know about you, but where I live it’s been raining. It’s been raining a lot and it’s not like we can pick up our phones and check the weather app and get an accurate weather forecast. It just seems to rain whenever it wants to and lately that’s been a lot.
Lately, I’ve had discussions with some friends about the accuracy of the weather. We’ve all agreed that the weather people with all their technology and forecasts still seem to struggle to get things just right. What’s interesting is these friends individuals who cut and put up hay and that process involves both rain (to make the hay grow) but also hot days so that hay when cut can dry out. Lately these guys have been frustrated because last year it was so hot and dry they were begging for rain and this year they are asking for it to stop, at least long enough for their hay to be cut and put up. There never seems to be a happy medium.
Yet, the Bible talks about God giving his people showers of blessing. Especially here in Ezekial God says that he will send down showers in their season. What that tells me is that despite what we experience is that God gives us what we need when we need it. So although there sometimes seems as if there is no happy medium, we don’t have to worry about that, because we have a Father who gives us what we need, when we need it. And those things are showers of blessing that come in their due time.
So I’m looking for sunny days ahead!
